Questions from Amanda Greenwood.

can anyone accurately date these please so they can be added to the archives?

Having just been on the Royal Lancs website, I notice you are compiling an archive.. In 1981, I had a very successful show winning as far as I can remember at least three trophies and collecting qualifications for various championships. I have none of the rossettes left, but have a nice photo of me on my pony Briery Man About Town, sidesaddle. I think we won the side saddle class, the best rider and the pony club equitation (that I do remember) as it was a huge trophy and very old.

Myself and Penny Davies (now Penny Hollings) led the parade into the main arena also, with the pony clubs all behind us, We were thrilled. I was then presented with my trophies. If you would be interested in putting my photo on the website please email me. My mother has just informed me she has a picture of herself and her show pony Blossom (owned by Mr. T Atkinson) from either 1955 or 1956 which she would also be happy for you to use.

I have enclosed two pictures as promised, however, not being a computer expert I cant put the captions below the pics for you. Also as both mums and my memories are not what they were, any info you can glean from old Royal Lancs documents and prize winner listings may help confirm what I say here.

The black and White photo is Miss Victoria Wade riding Mr. Atkinsons Blossom to either 1st or 2nd in either 1955 or 1956 14,2hh Show pony class. She cant remember if there was an equitation class or not, but says if there was she definitely won it!! She was a local rider from Cherry tree and a consistent winner at the Royal Lancs with this pony.

The colour picture is myself Miss Amanda Poskitt of Green Haworth Accrington riding Briery Man About Town in 1981. We won the Best Rider (trophy presented by The Hollings family) The pony club equitation class and championship and the side saddle class winning our ticket for the North Of England Championship at the Cambrian Show. I also remember winning the pony club show jumping class although I am not in the catalogue (in those days you could do a late entry and I think Billy Nicholson told me to get in there and jump)!!

And we appear to have been 4th in the working Hunter again getting a qualifier for The Cambrian Show.

I hope you can turn this information into something respectable!!

please email any ideas about it to Amanda Greenwood and Monica Lee
